The most important to get the potential buyer’s trust. To get it, it is necessary to try to think about how the buyers do.

The main strategies are the following:

Selling online or offline is on the one hand it’s different however from another hand it’s the same. The point for getting the customer’s attention and gaining their trust for your company and your product.

  1. Get the customer’s trust for your company.
    • Offline the buyers watch how your shop looks from outside and inside, online they check your appearance In Google and check your website or Facebook profile. You need to work on it because of the lack of this thing you lose your attention and trust.
    • If you sell something in an online market (Amazon, eBay, Gumtree, whatever…), they check your feedbacks. That is why it’s important to be kind with the buyers and have good, quick but patient and friendly customer service. This is how you can get the trust of your company.
  2. Get the customer’s trust for your product.
    • Offline the buyer looks at your product’s box first. It must be good looking, not damaged and clear. About the details, they can read the product’s box. Online you need to have a lot of pictures of the product from different directions, during operation, and what are they for, or how good quality it has. Furthermore, it is very important to a rich detailed content for every single product. Including summary, specifications, what the customer gets in addition to that, the delivery time, warranty, and how much would it cost altogether. If you miss putting something then the chance of selling it decreases. If you are much better at it than the competitors then you can sell it for more expensive, because your product got more trust.
  3. Check the competition and create a more trustful picture and content.
    • It is the most important to check your competitors because they have a lot of experience in selling that product. Maybe they are doing it for years or decades and they tried a lot of selling strategies. They probably sell it this way because it works best of all. After you checked them and understood their marketing strategies then you shouldn’t copy them but you need to make a better appearance for your product. More and better pictures and more and more accurate details.
  4. Don’t sell it for more expensive or cheaper than the competitors or as much as the product is worth to customers.
    • If you sell it for more expensive but your product is just like trustful than the competitors’ product, the buyers chooses the cheaper one.
    • If your pricing tag is cheaper, the buyers think that something is wrong with this product. ‘Why is this cheaper? It must be a scam…’
  5. It’s important to have a profile picture that has perfect quality and the buyers find what they are looking for.
    • If the product is new, use a stock photo and enhance the quality to get a better image as the competitors have.
    • If not, don’t use a stock photo, because at that point you lose the trust immediately. If it’s used they are interested in its current condition. For selling used stuff take some good quality pictures and enhance their quality using photo editing software, like Photoshop.
  6. Show what the buyers want to see.
    • Not always the best way for making a glittering, parallax website. It is working only with expensive, high-quality products and services. For a plumber, the best website is simple, clear but informative. The buyers this way would choose this kind of site because they are expecting it from a big experienced plumber. If this website looks wonderful with pop-up windows and high design, they will think, that this plumber isn’t skilled but it is very expensive. They want to see that this guy has 10 years of experience and if the site looks cheap their impression is that the service is cheap as well. In other words, a simple website gets more trust.
  7. Never lie or fool your customers
    • The buyer should get the product or service what they expect from you. If you tell, mention or just make an impression something about the product or service that they won’t get, then you will get an upset customer. If the customer feels cheated, then he will make a big effort to give it back to you somehow. In this online world, it is very dangerous because if something gets to the internet then it will never disappear. There are many ways to take revenge through feedbacks, reviews, blogs, social sites or there are websites as well especially for that where you can do it easily, like Trustpilot or TripAdvisor. Never forget that the bad news spreads 10 times quicker than the good news. It is still better to be friendly with them even they are offensive and rude to you and give a refund than leave them away with their anger.

I far didn’t mention all of the marketing strategies, because it would be too long for reading and it could be different in another situation.

I mentioned it because marketing is everywhere and If I do anything (graphic design, video editing, sound recording, pdf catalogue, PowerPoint presentation, excel statistics, flyer, banner, product cover etc.) I never forget this even I sell a product, service, book, travel, event, or myself…

…I hope it succeeded. 🙂
